Jellyfish and Pigeons at Silver Seafoods(chi)

jellyfish
Silver seafood is a Chinese restaurant located on Broadway and Lawerence.  There's a  strip mall parking lot for the restaurant but you must first go inside the restaurant and grab a ticket to place on the dash of your car otherwise you'll get a fine.  This is not a place to eat quick and get out, it's a place to sit and enjoy your food but with the comfort of paying the price of fast eats.  Just like any other Chinese restaurant, they have a giant menu.   I spotted something on the menu I've never tried before or seen on any menu for that fact.  Pigeons and jellyfish, yes I said pigeons and jellyfish.

The jellyfish  was served julian style with fresh herbs such as parsley and leeks wwhich looks like it was stir fried.  They looked almost like clear flat rice noodles and tasted very bland with a crunchy cartilage texture to it.  The jellyfish will taste like anything it's season or cooked in.  Naturally it has no flavor at all.
The pigeon was prepped and cooked as how they would with most quails, it's deep fried and garnish with herbs.  It looks and taste like a quail except the fact that it's much more gamy in taste.  I really like it but for others it might be an acquired taste unless you're from up north.  If you had wild goose before that's what it taste like but if you haven't just think of it as eating dark chicken with a slight bitter taste to it.

One thing you must try is the giant oysters with black bean sauce.  This is by far the best dish on the menu but kinda of pricey.  It's about three dollars an oyster but I think it's worth it if you just want to try it once.  Let me warn you though, if you do get hooked on them you'll knoticed your wallet a little lighter after you leave the place.  If you rely on public transportation you can get off the redline Lawerence or if you decide to nap and miss your stop you can also get off the Argyle redline.
